crpgs and nintendo fitness games. i love that for her.
you should read dungeon meshi because the anime simply will not look nearly as good as the manga!
She's so damn good!! I hope they release another Adventurers Bible volume, her character design and world building is next level
i own that one, have you seen her blog? that's what i linked and it's just full of her art. she does one where all the characters are in christmas outfits, lots of them in modern clothes. she's so good, i love her work so much
Yeah I love the non canon stuff comics she draws on there, the secret santa one from
last yeara few years ago was great! I need to finish reading her one shot anthologies still, those are awesome too
I was skeptical of Dungeon Meshi over its premise... but yeah, it's good shit. Character driven stories are always a big hit and DM is no exception.
[Chapter 61] Laius my beloved
Showspoiler
The manga is about killing animals for food, so I thought it might have some really stinky ideology - I had once read an agricultural time travel story and it became pretty fashy once it started touching political stuff. Also, the other possibility was it being a fairly generic yet weird slice of life fantasy Manga and thus be boring once the novelty wore off... but alas, the writing is too good.
yeah that's fair, but it's just really good the whole way through instead. even the more 'standard' fantasy elements are cool and clearly have a lot of thought and care put into them
Well, I had a power outage yesterday so I binged the remaining chapters. Good Manga.
Overall, some thoughts on the series as a whole:
spoiler
++ The series has a weird premise, but my god does that premise carry it a lot. The first half is fantastic
++ Great characters, all of them felt really memorable in spite of a large cast. There is one exception and that is the Elf Squad aside from its Captain. They're underdeveloped.
++ The artstyle. The author really delivered and more.
-
Entertaining and engrossing from chapter 1 to 97
-
The length. Not too short for it to feel not satisfying, not too long for it to drag
-
The story, in spite of it being fairly conventional in the end.
-
The ending. Kui wrote herself into a corner, but managed to land gracefully nonetheless.
-
Minor remark: Tade's design (Oni girl from Shuro's party) is adorable.
-
The final party member was introduced fairly late and despite being a character you can write a lot about, there was simply too little thereof
-
The story felt kinda written-as-you-go at times. In spite of the foreshadowing etc., some things just stopped being relevant while other were picked up out of nowhere.
-
The dungeon exploration section of the the Manga felt a bit too short and the quality peaked at the reaching of the lowest point in the dungeon. The quality stagnated after that, but didn't fall off too much.
i don't have much to say about it beyond i basically agree with you. i love it when a series has a unique premise that it does well and has good characters and art and a solid throughline. it's just very good
