The revolutionary government was a coalition of everything from Marxist-Leninists to anarcho-syndicalists to socdems. It was exceedingly left wing though, and the western powers were all too eager to back Franco and his fascist nationalists to get rid of them (or at least weaken them enough for the monarchists to win instead).
My exasperation with the /r/SRA poster is from how obvious it should be that western capital is not going to side with communists to defeat western-aligned fascists.
isn't that why Stalin didn't demand they go full Bolshevik? He was aware of the circumstance and knew that they could not give any further excuses for the western powers to step in directly on Franco's behalf
