The democrats have not been enacting positive LGBTQ change in this administration. The moment a single piece of legislation that is beneficial to one minority group gets passed instead of slapped away by the democratic majority in government right now I'll gladly change my mind.

Active worsening of conditions sucks a lot more than the passive "doing nothing." Yes, the Biden administration sucks and has achieved quite literally nothing in the last 6 months aside from guaranteeing losses in 2022 and 2024, but you cannot pretend that Trump didn't actively and intentionally make things worse, and that round 2 wouldn't go further.

Its a good point, I posted that last night angry about the rent cliff we're about to hit at the end of this month. So I was thinking of the perspective wherein "doing nothing" is literally the same as making things worse.

You are correct and thank you for realigning that perspective for me.

Yeah, the rent cliff is an absolute fucking nightmare, but we can't focus entirely on inward issues and economics. Doing nothing and allowing others to make things worse is making things worse, but it's important to think about the magnitude of that "worse" level. One worse is ignoring the problem and the other worse is actively calling for murder. It's easy to just go "yeah, sure, I'd throw people in a wood chipper in exchange for a marginal improvement of my own material conditions," but it's important to remember that actively fucking over comrades will just make things worse for you and everyone else in the long run.

I cede your point, but I wasn't exactly suggesting to throw my comrades in a wood chipper. I was saying there is no real difference between the two parties except that one was potentially giving me $2,000 which would improve my material conditions somewhat, being an incredibly poor person and all.

Coming at me a bit hot on the defense of the Dems here.

I'm not here to defend the Dems, I'm not even American. I'm just really sick of people in leftist spaces getting weirdly gung ho about throwing minorities under the bus in exchange for table scraps from fascists without thinking about it.

Agreed, it's easy to turn people with the promises of monetary gain when wealth inequality is this severe.

It'll be the game plan, and has been, of fascists forever. So I'm in the wrong here really for even suggesting it.

Going to get harder and harder to navigate this as time goes on as well, people will accept some pretty fucking bleak things, or as was my case here not fully consider them, for a small amount of financial alleviation under a society like this.
