this program is also useful in dispelling the notion that vietnam is somehow against china, or that laos is counterrevolutionary or whatever. look at those noting patterns. while we're on it, this sub needs to smarten up about africa. its like an unwritten rule that all kinds of former ML countries are somehow still socialist, like belarus, while those african states that won socialist revolutions have been erased from the discourse entirely. none of these dumb twitter handles feature the namib or angolan flags, wonder why that is. im sure if people actually got around to consider it, there would be tons of nerds geeking about about "socialism with namibian characteristics" for instance

Probably because if a bunch of, let's be real, white dudes on Twitter started trying to pretend they had any connection to those revolutions, they'd rightly be ridiculed for it. Comparatively, a guy named, say, Schmidt repping the GDR flag is a lot less silly.

but these are the guys that throw up all the ML state flags and our latam friends and like belarus and syria too. they're mister worldwide but its like an invisible force prevents them from moving across the sahara. i dont think i have ever encountered a serious discussion about FRELIMO, SWAPO or MPLA ever. south africa is different, and zimbabwe is always overshadowed by mugabe manifest but those are all in the same category as other ethnocentric favourites like the sandinistas
