My partner and I do a lot of board games together, and I have been looking for a 2 person game we can do together. I wanted to get it for them for the holiday present season. We prefer co op games but enjoy competitive games too if it's lightly competitive (like you can get points but can't easily take points from the other). Any suggestions for board or card games that you enjoy?

I've played tons but forgotten their names sorry. The ones I do recall which are mildly competitive are:

Phil Walker Harding games (the guy who made Sushi Go)

    • Museum Suspects (like Cluedo but faster with a 4x4 grid of suspects)
    • Super Mega Lucky Box (like bingo, with a few tweaks, very 'just one more game' kinda vibe)
      /

Coop games I've played enough are:

    • Codenames Duet (two player version of the word guessing/clue giving game)
    • King of Monster Island (King of Tokyo, you team up to take on the big baddy, dice roller RPG, bit clunky lots of components but still fun)
    • Marvel United (coop against a Marvel villain. K really really don't like this game but my friends love it. It's like KOMI above but much more pared back, you have a diminishing deck of cards to take actions rather than dice rolls, so it's less swingy than KOMI in some ways)

Honourable mention to 7 Wonders Duel. You're racing to win rather than battling but does feel super competitive.
