The issue we are facing is a large number of comments from users being racist towards others because of cheating. Our mod queue has received a lot of reports regarding these from you. Reddit Admins have also had to remove a lot of these comments, so we know the issue is present.

"I want different rules for the Chinese but that's not racist I just want one specific race of people treated differently"

    Shit like this:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/s/INxKHP1nBP

Literally read up on the differences in gaming culture before you just call random people racist.

People are literally citing a 5 year old post by an account literally made to make that post as evidence for their views.

It's psyop shit. I'm becoming increasingly suspicious that gamers were deliberately led to this through agitative psyops.

Yes multiple right wing think tanks have come to the conclussion "gamers are particularly stupid racist and easily manipulated we should target that for political power"

I vaguely remember it started getting talked about a lot when pubg came out seemingly out of nowhere. Suddenly it was a major part of discourse. Feels very psyopy.

I think it was DayZ where it properly began. Prior to that I have little memory of it ever being raised.

PUBG was very popular worldwide and eventually acquired and marketed by a Chinese company. It also ran like dogshit and the devs didn’t really care so the complaints were more warranted

I don't see what that has to do with topic of this post.

It’s not psyops lmao. It’s just the natural conclusion of racism. You don’t need the CIA to do anything when you already believe that Chinese people are the reason your parents are divorced

It was around 2013 or so, I think.

Reddit had a deluge of people posting screeds about how “pay to win” was baked into Chinese culture as being acceptable. They’d lump it in with the anti micro transactions rage that hadn’t died yet at the time.

I think you might be onto something.

Puts it right before and around the time of gamergate. Really quite possible this was pushed by same groups that created that for far right purposes.

You think Bannon was involved? He made money off WoW gold farming and was involved in a white paper that used it as a case study.

In gamergate? Yes. There's several things that link him, the start of it wasn't manufactured but they jumped on the opportunity and it kick started the alt-right. In the chinese stuff? Maybe. Timing is similar enough for it to be something they might've tried.

I've been involved in enough huge major internet dramas now to realise just how few people can drive them.

That’s wild. There’s almost certainly a niche for somebody doing a TrueAnon but for gamergate and putting the cork board together.

"I can't be racist because a bunch of other white people agree with me this race is a problem"

Can we like crowd fund some self awareness for these people or something?
