mgtow always kinda confuses me, like 10-15 years ago i sort of knew this guy who was telling me about his "men going their own way" group, and it sounded like a bunch of 40yo+ divorced dudes deciding not to get back in the dating game but to go on a bunch of camping trips and shit instead. im sure there was a lot of dudes rocking and bitter shit-talking about their ex-wives at these camping trips, but even still it didnt sound like the unhealthiest coping mechanism in the world i guess? this guy seemed pretty put together and never said any weird shit about women to me, and he didnt seem like an online kinda guy at all

was there actually a somewhat-less-awful real-life movement this current online shitshow morphed out of? or was it always this bad?

Yeah I believe it started off as a sort of “make your own happiness” kind of vibe and then redpill reactionaries got involved and mutated it

Yes that's how every Subreddit evolves

"kidsAreFuckingStupid" started as kind of a delightful series of small kids being stupid in surprising and funny ways. Like a fun demonstration of brain development.

Now you still have some of that, but a lot of it is

      A) People scraping the bottom of the barrel, which is unsurprising

      B) A picture of a literal baby hitting a balloon on a string, kinda flailing around or whatever, with a title like "Look at this stupid goddamn piece of shit"

I do distinctly remember a non shitty part of thew MGOTW movement, an old college friend was part of a group of divorced dudes who make 70K+ a year and the encourage eachothers shitty hobbies like working on cars or building bars in their basements

A few years back, a retired work buddy of my dad's came over to visit us to get away from caring for his bedridden wife for a few days. He casually started quoting a bunch of "race statistics" during a movie we were passively watching (no one asked), and he later tried to tell me I should read/listed to JBP. This was a few months after I had found chapo and had listened to The Dark Professor and I straight up laughed in his face, like really hard. I think I made him pretty mad. Can't believe that fuckin loser got into the MGTOW / JBP stuff lol, he had been a family friend for like 3 decades. What a waste.
