Anyone else Jewish and having a really weird time dealing with this? I was at my families annual Hanukah party, and apart from a few of my cousins and I, all my relatives seem to be losing their shit. I guess it makes sense that they're all losing it. For Zionists with otherwise progressive beliefs, trying to rationalize support for Israel can only result in a shitload of internal contradictions, and we all know that leads people to weird places. It was awkward because my family knows my thoughts on Zionism, and some of my relatives were straight up icing me out. It's even worse trying to go to Shabbat service and stuff like that. I feel like I've been totally cut out of a community that has done a lot to keep me sane over the years.

Yes. It's pretty disorienting rn. I have had to, out of necessity, limit interactions with zionist family and friends.

I have progressive loved ones that are having full breakdowns because their entire ideological framework is collapsing in on itself as it has become impossible for them to ignore the horror (esp. with my prodding). These are pretty insightful and educated people who have wrestled with similar disillusions before. I can only imagine what it is doing in the minds of less politically & historically informed people. I haven't had any in serious conversations with extremely zionist family yet but I can only imagine what they're like considering previous conversations.
