Some Bri*ish Asshat made a movie about an American civil war to be released during an election year. I'm sure this won't embolden the chuds at all. Everywhere online I see people say that it's a poorly timed release I see some smug E*ropean talking about "sensitive Americans". It's not like film has been used to inspire reactionaries to commit political violence since it has existed or anything. Birth of a Nation? Never heard of it.

this reminds me of people flipping out about joker before it came out. it says something about liberal panic but it's just a movie. peole have been making right wing schlock movies for decades. the only difference is that cgi has gotten cheaper so the fantastic violence can be depicted more glamourously

Yeah like Birth of a Nation, which was directly responsible for the resurgence of the Klan. Media makes a difference.

I guess? When Birth of a Nation came out, there were still living members of the original klan -- 'activated' audience members had a real organization ready for them. What are these Civil War reactionaries supposed to be inspired to do? What group will they join? That kind of organization, the skill-set and knowledge that comes with it, just doesn't exist in the United States. The closest you get would be right-wing veterans, and their experience is loosing to insurgents, not being them.
