How will the Taliban hold power if they immediately start invading China. I don't see the benefit if they're trying to advance their own interests. China offered investment and infrastructure deals with them.
The Taliban took most of the country because they won popular support over the American puppet govt, kicking out the USA and ending US violence. They're going to lose the support (and land) they gained if they throw people at the Chinese border and nullify whatever clean water deals they've made with the CPC.
Oh I agree 100%, but decisions hurting the interests of those who make them doesn't stop them from being made. If the Taliban were acting in their own interests they would just take the trade, and they've made some statements that make it appear as though they are going to do just that, but you can never be sure.
