What I don't understand is how brainwashed you have to be enjoy and accept working 80 hour weeks. When I started working 40 hours fulltime I already wanted to kill myself, even before attaining any sort of well defined class consciousness.

I understand most people are just trying to survive and tend to go with the flow just because change/instability scares them but I mean seriously why does no one have any dignity anymore? Do you guys not want to spend more time with your family, doing the things you like and actually living a life?

Half of that was too much for me. No idea how some people can live with spending 50% of their waking life making their boss rich and getting paid just enough to have a place to rest when they're not at work, year after year

I think what horrifies me MORE is that some people I've encountered seem to be more or less happy with this arrangement, and it's like ?????

        you are insane

I still wouldn't be happy with that arrangement even if I made like a million dollars per year somehow. There just isn't an amount of money you could pay me to be happy on a drudgery treadmill instead of living my life.

What's worse is I could understand you just trying to make it if youre at the edge but these mother fuckers are high educated and skilled like they can demand some respect.

At Amazon in your contract you sign on for 40 hours, but in the small print it says that during peak periods you have to do 55 minimum. Horrific.
