    Even that assumes a successor state (or multiple successor states) wouldn't, say, invade countries in the Caribbean.

      in either way (especially in the multiple successor states case) the ability of the region formely known as US to project military and imperiallist power all over the worldwould be significantly hampered compared to pre "collapse" levels

        Certainly. The odds of a collapsing U.S. or a successor state murder-suiciding another country on the way out seems pretty high, still.
