The fucking housing crisis was caused by predatory loans to an extent because banks fucking love keeping people in long term debt, it was big news. The amount that you would need to know how mortgages work is that it's a loan you pay back over time, which is the core concept, which unless you're trying really really hard to have something to argue against is tantamount to knowing they exist.
