Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and world's wealthiest man, has donated $100 million each to CNN contributor Van Jones and chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen.

As I understand it - the money is theirs to so with as they see fit. Assume that's true.
Van had a net worth of 5 million before the donation. More than enough for a single person to live off of comfortably for the rest of their life.
