Ah it turns out i had it wrong, it was mars corporation, not nestle, and they tried to buy the whole company, but ended up just buying just the name/brand after a bunch of negotiations for an estimated $2.4 million (so they could say “founded in milwaukee in 1993” on their coffee pods for Flavia brand coffee makers used in big offices)

It used to be called Alterra, which I thought was a somewhat better name. Then they sold that brand or somethng? I dunno.
Nestle tried buying them, but accidentally only bought the name, so they use the alterra name for the coffee in their corporate coffee machines
