Gentoo or Linux From Scratch if you want to learn how stuff works and therefore fix any issues that come up later. With Windows when things go real bad you just reinstall. With Linux you really can fix it if you know what's what.
Ubuntu or Pop! OS if you want the best chance at a seamless experience.
I personally recommend doing the learning option first and then the latter, but only if you have the time and patience and interest for the learning.
Pop OS works super easily out of the box by default, it's pretty, and it's easy for gaming.
If you want a desktop that feels like Windows out of the box and is really customizable, try Kubuntu.
You can try (in demo mode) and/or install either of these Linux versions by flashing the download file to a USB through the program Rufus. Use this tutorial for a walkthrough on this entire process and an installation itself. Use this tutorial to divide up your drive so you can boot up either Linux or Windows at your leisure! Good luck my friend
I’ve been meaning to switch for a while, where do I start? If linux is anything like veganism, then it’s based.
