I could almost see that argument, but haven't they heard of brigading?
Plus, that sub was neutered the very second we all got the first warning. I remember some people advocating for not changing and getting banned, since we all knew it was going to happen, and others wanting to play along. I was solidly in the "not changing" camp
I don't really think they were interested in material reality of the thing, but preferred their idealized picture of reddit being a neutral space.
