i like that they openly condemn the nazi part of their fanbase. they're a pretty cool antifascist band considering the singer and the lead guitarist used to beat up skinheads in the gdr

source?
one of the interviews theyve done with rolling stone, i got it from a quote from a classic rock uk article from 2019.
Quote:Far from flirting with Nazi chic, several Rammstein members retain a strong attachment to the communal left-wing ethos of East Germany. "We have grown up as socialists," Lindemann told Rolling Stone. "We used to be either punks or goths; We hate Nazis! We are coming from an entirely different culture. We used to beat up those right-wing morons, and we still would today."
see the other comment here. Deutschland and Links 2 3 4 are their most overtly left-wing songs, with Deutschland (Germany) being a song that pretty clearly speaks out against german nationalism in particular, and Links 2 3 4 (Left 2 3 4) being a song clearly defining them as left wing while poking fun at people saying they're right-wing because of their militaristic aesthetics through making the whole song pretty much a marching tempo
I really like their music
Also their song "Amerika" is actually based
Never took the time to figure out if this was true, but back in the late 90's when I heard of them some people who were into them told me that some of their popular angry songs were about pretty flowers. But since not many in the US speak German, most of us were never going to know unless we found the liner notes and a German to English dictionary.
Damn... making me take the time to look things up. :blob-no-thoughts:
The place i go to for training plays a ton of rammstein, and its amazing how much it improves my workouts. It gets the blood pumping even when i'm just doing warmups and stretches.
Aha, I listened to them when i was young and it was so refreshing to come back to this song and its meaning after i was radicalised
I remember downloading their music videos on Kazaa when I was in Middle school. I was not mature enough yet to comprehend their performance on the Family Values tour.
