I was watching something on TV where some kids were terrified about getting beaten by their mom because they broke a window.
That's obviously awful, but it made me realize something new that's fucked up about capitalism. If you are on the brink of homelessness, there's an odd logic to terrifying the fuck out of your kids for breaking material things. If it's a fucking window, that might kill months upon months of savings, or you might literally get evicted because you can't pay rent and repairs, and your children can get put into fucked up abusive situations. You might never see each other again, and any of you could die from that. Like literally just kids being rowdy is a life-threatening activity, like you're in a war zone.
The only time I remember getting hit as a child was for playing with the stove, which, :shrug-outta-hecks:
