Four things I noticed in the trailer:
-
In NPH psychiatrists office, he has butterflies and little glass baubles that are red and blue respectively that sit opposite of one another. I wonder if the implication is that he is the one who created/wrote the code of the red and blue pills.
-
We see the machine's operating on Neo's body in a series of flashcuts and his eyes are burnt and sealed shut just like in revolutions....so this is 100% a resurrection in the literal sense. The machines can grow human beings so this honestly isn't that out there.
-
We see trinities body in "the real world" (pin in that one). She has a tube connected to her head with blue LEDS....not unlike the blue pills actually. She also has what almost looks like blue code running down her face, although that could just be a trick of lighting and her being covered in liquid of some kind.
-
We see a videoprojector in a room playing the first matrix film.
Do they have a new actor playing Morpheus, or is that a different character? It would be kind of weird if it was Morpheus because all the other characters from the previous movies are visibly older, but this actor looks even younger than Morpheus in the first matrix.
Lol Morpheus was canonically killed off in a 2005 Matrix video game in an alleyway by a person hiding in a vent.
Yahya Abdul-mateen is the weird standout for sure. Most leaked details do say he's a young morpheus and this trailer kinda suggests that also, especially with how he seems to know Neo but more then reputation...but that really makes absolutely zero sense considering that we have most of the original cast returning, including Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe.
There's lots of speculation on that front but I wonder if maybe he's a ringer? With some of the details in this trailer suggesting Neo basically has to relearn to be the one and go through his journey after his ressurection....maybe he's not actually morpheus..or even real? Maybe he's an image of a younger morpheus the machines had? Again...if we don't know by now...we probably won't until the film actually releases.
I think it might be that he's Morpheus's son or something? It's been pointed out that in the canon MMO Matrix game, Morpheus actually dies. The Wachowskis are pretty meticulous about obscure Matrix canon, so I figure Lana feels the need to make sure this movie fits in with both the lore of the previous movies and the lore of the games + The Animatrix.
I think that's a different character? As far as I know Laurence Fishburne hasn't been confirmed as a returning cast member.
