Arab or Palestinian citizens of Israel face de jure discrimination, not just de facto. Their law defines Israel as a nation-state of Jewish people, marking others as second class citizens.

Although the international community [end of sentence]

    honk
    The international community what?

Also the proliferation of vibes based indexes that consist solely of a dude or handful of dudes with absolutely no agenda doling out ratings on a totally objective 1-10 scale is very annoying.

generally considers East Jerusalem to be part of the occupied West Bank, it may be mentioned in this report when specific conditions there directly affect or overlap with conditions in Israel proper. Freedom in the World reports assess the level of political rights and civil liberties in a given geographical area, regardless of whether they are affected by the state, nonstate actors, or foreign powers. Disputed or occupied territories are sometimes assessed separately if they meet certain criteria, including boundaries that are sufficiently stable to allow year-on-year comparisons

Reads like "this state is very free if you exclude all the people it represses"

This is the MBTI-ification of who I think is cool and who I think is cringe, nothing more.

If you, like, stick some numbers or metrics to your opinion then it's facts bro. Trust me, bro.

The American Freedom Eagle Burger Institute doing great work as always. I love that we can easily measure a country's freedom units to work out how much they need a regime change or drone strike. What an age we live in.

Israel? Officially free and fair! *†‡§#Δ◊

    * In specific areas

    † Subject to military censor

‡ Excepting widespread racial discrimination in education and social services

    § And personal security

    # Oh, and housing and permits

Δ Plus the language is officially discriminated against

◊ Also it's literally just an ethnostate

Freedom House is a bourgeois organization, and it doesn't lie, that's what's good about it. It truthfully tells you how free capitalists are to act as they please in a country. When they say "LGBT representation", they mean "freedom to open NGOs". When they say "democracy", they mean "freedom to lobby your interests in the parliament, to promote your candidates", etc. That's why I really like Freedom House and consider it a good source.

I mean i find it funny they arrive at the rating "free", while describing apartheid state with military censorship on top.

Walking around the green zone in 2007 Iraq and thinking to yourself that this place is a solid 8 out of 10

Exactly, it's like if you tried judging apartheid South Africa whilst including the bantustans or segregated black communities. It would heavily skew the ratings.

The separation is more what is recognised Israel and what are contentious areas. Similar to how there was a Donbas, Russia separation, and Armenia Abkhazia (butchered that name for sure) separation
