Leftists hold a significant amount of power on city councils in most of the country's large cities.

Oakland, Portland, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. (bit different due to federal involvement but the mayor is far left)

Ok, I'm looking into this. Chicago's city council has a democratic socialist caucus of 6 people out of 50. Denver seems to have had 1 socialist out of 13 up until this year, but currently has 0. Philadelphia has 2 members of the leftist Working Families Party on the council out of 17. Los Angeles has (I think) 3 DSA members on their council out of 15, and all 3 are in the Democratic party as well.

I've never heard of DC's mayor but I sincerely doubt she's some firebrand leftist.

This is considered a significant amount of power by these neoliberal goofballs. These are cities that have supermajorities of elected normal Democrats anyway.

Having 0 seats on a council is significant power but having control of the presidency and both houses of Congress hasn't ever been enough to get legislation passed

This checks out. Americans think a third of the country is Jewish, another third is Muslim. They think a third is indigenous. They think a fifth of the country are millionaires. Why wouldn't they think the cities are run by communists?

They think 21% of people are trans? And 27% are indigenous?

Americans can't conceive of anything smaller than 1/5

okay wait wait, how rigorous are YouGov surveys though. Do they throw a random questions in the middle to check that participants aren't just randomly clicking through asap to get the gift card/money prize?

Because if they don't, I can totally see the participants just randomly doing shit to make it look "believable"

Sorry "Bashar al Assad", but there is nothing in your link supporting that claim other than the fact that she is a Democrat, which is the banner under which almost all politicians left of the KKK have to run under in order to have a realistic chance of winning (because you usually cannot win as a smaller party or independent). Her policies are left wing.

So you think anyone left of the KKK is "left wing" and therefore "morally bankrupt".

Muriel Bowser, mayor of DC is a far right vampire. Her most recent thing is refusing to distribute additional food stamp money that was unanimously approved by the city council, while also trying to give 500 million dollars to the Washington wizards

Berkeley, Oakland, and Richmond all have pretty far left city councils. Richmond in particular has a majority and the mayorship (Gayle MacLaughlin was green party mayor of Richmond a few mayors back too). Of course in the grand scheme of things it doesn't do much but it's really nice for those of us living here.
