On August 15, Justin Trudeau called a snap election with the hope of regaining a Liberal majority. His confidence in his ability to do so was based on the fact that most Canadians think the government has handled the pandemic well. However, polling has indicated that his edge in this is actually razor thin over the Conservative Party and the largest gains by far were to the NDP and PPC.
Holy shit this is so fucking dumb. Nobody gives a shit about this election, Justin, why the hell did you do this? You clearly just wanted to try and make use of that post-pandemic popularity bump that a number of governments seem to be getting, following actually handling the pandemic competently, but you didn't do a god damned thing, did you Justin? The only people that actually did anything were the NDP, and you thought? YOU THOUGHT? We saw through that shit, dumbass, and now you actually stand a chance to lose your plurality to the fucking Conservatives.

Question for the day here. One winner and sorry for getting back late, everyone :rat-salute: @biden.
Previous answer
butcher is 48, the baker is 42 and the candlestick maker is 60
Two diesel ships
Two diesel ships leave a pier simultaneously, the Stepan Razin downstream and the Timiryazev upstream, with the same motive force. As they leave, a life buoy falls off the Stepan Razin and floats downstream. An hour later both ships are ordered to reverse course. Will the Stepan Razin's crew be able to pick up the buoy before the ships meet?
Like usual have fun :soviet-heart: and remember to dm @Wmill the answer.
Seriously though, this election is so dumb. :kkkanada:
:meow-bounce: super pumped for your spooooOOoooky Halloween quilt! i looked up a video on English paper piecing, what a neat method. can't wait to see it if you're comfortable posting it here whenever it's done or there's progress you want to share. making your own wardrobe...that's the dream! my stepmom sewed clothes when i was a kid so i learned some basics, but i've never successfully like, followed a pattern or done a real project.
thanks for the knitting/crochet advice! i actually just started experimenting with crochet like, last week, and it's really fun so far. i lose count of the stitches constantly (thanks ADHD :ooooooooooooooh: ) but it will probably get easier. now to look up continental knitting...
and yeah, the loom is wood. dumpster dived some scraps and pretty much just followed this method. it's a lot of measuring and hammering in tiny nails, but nothing too intimidating if you're interested in trying continuous strand weaving without a huge money commitment.
Thats so cool your stepmom mde your clothes! Do you come from a crafty family? Only my late great grandmother did some crafts so im on my own lol.
The worst part of crochet is keeping track of stitches imo, especially in the round. On the brightside you can make a stitch wherever you want which can be fun. If you're right handed, continental had you hold the yarn in your left and you move the needle to wrap your yarn around rather than moving your fingers. It's kinda hard to explain but there's tons of videos.
You seem so cool :cri: I wish we were on a commune. Do you dumpster dive often? I saw a terrible picture on the subreddit of someone's leg sliced open from broken glass and it turned me off from it
Spider hags gang gang
well, a family of craft dabblers, anyway. i'm on my own for most of it too. sometimes it makes me sad to think how much knowledge about making stuff has been lost over the last few generations. at least we've got youtube how-to videos, right?
omg that's so gnarly about the sliced leg, imagine getting cut on filthy garbage :kombucha-disgust: i don't habitually dumpster dive, but i happened to see a construction dumpster in a fancy neighborhood where they were renovating a house and it was full of random boards so...hey, free boards!
spoiler
you seem awesome too!! spider hags gang gang

I remember when I was in middle school most knitting tutorials were done by older women who would take like 20-30 minutes to explain basic things and now you can get tik toks of them lol.
I kinda wish I had more people around me doing crafts but the knitting groups near where I live are like old white women who don't like Asian people and bougie libs in the city lol. If I stopped procrastinating I could make a wip post on the diy comm
Omg my thing sent before I was done I was trying to find the bean think emoji. Just act like I put it there l
I'm so glad I have a fellow spider hag here :meow-hug: I hope I can see some of your finished objects! What's your favorite thing you've made so far?

SPIDER GANG BITCH :sicko-fem: :sicko-fem: :meow-knit: :porky-spider: :sicko-hexbear:
yes yes, i see the beautiful bean think emoji in my mind, it's transcendent :angel-biblical-shh:
you were knitting in middle school?? based. if you end up having time/energy to do a wip post i will be there with upbears and hag comments. also, death to racist boomer knitting groups :knifecat:
favorite thing i've made fiber arts wise is a skein of sparkly, fluffy white and silver yarn. it is like if a crisp snowbank glittering in the full moon was a yarn. i'm a sucker for sparkly shit. how about you?
There was a knitting club in 4th grade where I learned :comfy: it was just the basics but I've been learning more since.
Omg would you post a link to one of your current projects, no pressure of course. We'll have a slow hag takeover of the diy comm :sicko-fem: :sicko-fem: 🕸🕷🕸🕷
I like sparkle but have sensitive skin so I just admire for afar lol. I think my (basic) colorwork cardigan is my favorite thing I've made although I get a lot more use out of my socks. This winter I'm hoping to make another or maybe even 2 more cardigans so I can survive living in the northeast without freezing lol.
Any projects you're looking forward to?
lol i love how we're posting into the void of this expired megathread :specter: i keep thinking about posting some projects but i try to limit my irl/online crossovers for opsec and mental health reasons.
absolutely in awe that you make your own cardigans and SOCKS holy smokes. being able to make clothes is such a dream, and i fucking love sweaters so i guess that's what i'm most looking forward to. i'm so glad we connected and talked, you already inspired me to get started on my first crochet scarf!
There's a spectre haunting the expired megathread, its 2 hags who keep using spider emojis.
Yeah I want to post all my plants and projects but they feel so identifiable. I guess it's only really a problem if someone knows you in real life but I also wouldn't want someone who knows me in real life to see my posting cringe lol.
Yesss, spider hag gang :sicko-fem: we can help clothe the commune. I think wool socks are one of the best things you can make, so warm and super durable.
It's so nice having a leftist fiber arts person to talk to :crush: I'm glad you're trying crochet! Are you using your handspun? When you feel more comfortable crocheting there are some pretty simple but nice looking patterns by this person: https://www.allaboutami.com/patterns/wearable-items/ not all their patterns are free but they have a decent amount
i did a couple small practice things, granny squares etc with my homespun. but this hooded scarf takes like 800 yards so i bought some (of course) sparkly stuff. really puts it into perspective what a labor of love it would be to spin enough yarn to knit an entire sweater, but maybe some day! our commune is worth it :meow-hug: everyone is going to have the warmest socks
omg these patterns are gorgeous, what a vibe. have you made anything of hers?
