I wouldn't put motorcycles down as evil, most of them get 50+ mpg and smaller ones can get like 90. Far superior to cars if you're only trying to move one person around.
Maybe if motorcycles were used exclusively to replace single person long distance transport but they are frequently used in densely populated areas where they are the worst sound polluters by a large margin.
My pup is really afraid of loud motorcycle noises and will run back home in the middle of his walk if he hears one. I hate these shits with a passion. How the hell am I hearing you so loud from a mile away you fuck?!
About a year ago, my wife and I were walking with our kid in a stroller down the sidewalk, which at the time was basically the only situation in which he was happy and calm. Someone came past us in a motorcycle, and revved the shit out of their engine right as they were passing us, less than a yard away.
It was so loud it hurt my ears much less a 1-year-olds, and we were unable to calm him down for like 15 minutes because he was so scared.
there are a few fully electric models of motorcycle now that are unrecognizably quiet. i was looking at Zero Motorcycles a lot last year. street/dual sport, under 300 lbs. max speed 120+ mph, 200+ miles on a single charge, full charge in an hour.
i was 100% totally fantasizing about getting a full suit of motocross body protection and a bike, all flat black, and getting light covers for the bike so i be a cat burglar / vigilante-ninja. vanishing from the cops like a fart in the wind.
granted, this is not about being a good citizen, but there are video reviews where bike people ride them. i'm not a bike guy at all. they scare me in general, but i'll be damned if i didn't imagine becoming one.
Fair, but if you look at person-miles per gallon motorcycles are still leagues worse of any of the neutrals or goods on that chart, plus noise pollution. road wear-and-tear, and the healthcare costs associated with more frequent accidents/crashes.

Grandma's actually kinda right. Noise pollution has shockingly significant effects on mental and physical health.

He's not much of a hugger but I'm throwing him his ball right now.
