So I'm kinda doing this already, got the land the garden ect, working towards a self sustainable homestead. It is a ton of work and six years in I'm no where close to being able to live off it, if it wasn't for my disability pension it wouldn't be do able at all.
Everyone wants to live stardew valley, but most people have no clue how much work it takes. I love it and have always wanted to live this way but it took a ton of sacrifice to get here.
Another aspect most people don't think about is how different rural life is then even a small city. My county has one theater and maybe two restaurants worth eating at. It takes over an hour to get to a decent grocery store. I have to use a cellular hotspot to get internet. Everything comes with sacrifice and most people haven't even considered how much it takes to live like this.
