The anniversary of the worst massacre of the Holocaust, the Babi Yar massacre in Ukraine, is coming to its 80th anniversary. Many Ukrainians were complicit in the slaughter, then were killed in those same trenches they buried Jews, Roma and others in.

Friendly reminder that the people who did shit like this are national heroes in Ukraine now and have monuments throughout the world.

FInd the nearest one, and deface that shit.

Israel doesn't give a shit about who freed the camps. They hate the actual Jewish people who lived in Europe, the people who spoke Yiddish and had a thriving, millennia-old culture of music, theater, art and science until it was torn up and burned. The autonomous Jewish Oblast was fraught and poorly thought out, but it's the only place that actually came from a respect for the culture and language of Ashkenazi Jews.

The US's goal is to get every Jew into their Jesus theme park to act as decoration, eventually by force.

Edit: the deliberate homogenization of Jewish cultures is specifically to erase the variety of histories and areas they came from. The use of Sephardic pronunciation while calling Sephardic traditions and culture 'less pious', the fact that Mizrahim are grouped in with Arabs and persecuted with similar fervor, and the reproductive harm done to Beta Israelis are proof of it.

it’s the only place that actually came from a respect for the culture and language of Ashkenazi Jews

It absolutely wasn't. Komzet (the "Committee for the Settlement of Working Jews on the Land") was established to combat Jewish unemployment and provide an alternative to Zionism. Komzet was a mostly economic project, and was still not consulted on the actual location and mechanics of the Oblast. Whose location, according to Sudoplatov, was picked purely with strategic and military goals in mind. Although even if we disregard Sudoplatov because of his anti Stalin bias you still have the twin fact that nobody asked the Jews how, where and why the were to be resettled and the organisation in charge of such an effort was a purely economic endeavour

The JAO and Israel are both cynical projects.

Israel is a rabidly reactionary project, led from the start by unhinged, genocidal maniacs. Of course they don't give a flying fuck.

It's still crazy to me just how many openly fascist monuments they have. Like...they were gonna exterminate ALL of you if they had their way

Never underestimate the ability of dipshit Eastern European fascists to convince themselves Hitler actually considered them Ubermensch, despite literally everything, including his written and spoken word, to the contrary.

Official date for Holocaust Remembrance for most places is Jan 27th; lots of countries have their own, but the only 2 that are close to today are Lithuania (Sept 23rd) and Romania (which is in October).

Seems like potentially using their persecution as clout (or to make a point)? No idea without context

Hey, if they can sell IBM, BMWs, Hugo Boss and Bayer in Eretz Yisrael, what else can you use the memory of the Shoah for?
