Here we see again how atomization and consumerism destroys community. It once was common for parishes to hold social hours hospitality or coffee or something after services. This would help people get to know each other over some food and grow as a community, and was a good time to discuss community matters or church concerns. Now they just go to diners and yell at waitresses for 2 hours afterwards. I'm always very pleasantly surprised when I am at a church that still has some sort of social after Mass, it allows me to meet and talk with people in the community as a fellow Catholic.
