‘Squid Game’ Is Now The #1 Show In 90 Different Countries

Netflix’s focus on global content has paid off in a big way with Squid Game, which has planted itself not just as the #1 show in its home country of Korea and in Netflix’s home country of the United States, but now, the show is #1 in at least 90 different countries around the world.

I did. We all did. Still happy to see it.

Korean cinema has really seemed to break through in the US since Parasite. I will say I am not very exposed to Korean culture outside of what makes it over the Pacific to bleed into US culture. Which in my opinion makes it all the more impressive that two anti-capitalist Korean productions became international sensations after exploding in the US.

Can you all feel it? They tried to make us feel like the energy was gone, but it's still there, and it's not just Squid Game that's showing it.

EDIT - on a show related note, Oh-Il Nam was a total surprise to me, biggest twist I'd say.

    That's when Boston Dynamics Amphibious Sexual Assault Dogs and the FBI spy planes come out. The moment you even doubt capitalism the NSA panopticon is going to come down on you like a boulder on an ant. There's going to be like 15 guys in full deathstronaut gear pouring from every corner of the country into your living room. There's going to trucks preemptively soaking every neighborhood with teargas laden water. There's going to be LRAD's spouting every imagineable anti communist propaganda ever, and when you try to Google search "how to make molotov cocktail" there's going to be a captcha asking you to debunk anti communist talking points with a timer and if you spell one thing wrong the Delta Force operator hanging from the ceiling will pour his Black Rifle coffee on you

      As funny as this description was, the US really showed it's whole ass during the BLM riots nationwide.

      They barely have the capacity to deal with domestic dissent anymore. Without deploying the entire apparatus (which may even worsen the situation), they are without a hope of victory.

        I'm pretty sure they have a lot more stops still left to pull out, but it was pretty funny that they had to mobilize bureau of prisons thumbs and child soldiers to bolster their numbers

        Anarcho-FBI-informantism has it's faults but I really like Bobert's descriptions of future US dystopias. He's probably not that far off from the reality of it.
