gain the direct ability to mess with resolutions that could prevent wars in countries they want resources in. become recognized as equal to a state, and have legal grounds outside america to begin acting as a state with foreign countries. If China tries to withdraw from the UN because they will not treat Facebook as a state, that would likely further american insanity.

While the USSR was boycotting the UN over it refusing to give the PRC China's seat, the US cynically used it to support their genocidal war in Korea.

that's exactly what I mean. If you don't play along with the weird circus, you get harsh punishments.

But the thing is - no one in power anywhere respects the UN. Adding companies to it would lead towards the UN collapsing.

it does allow for diplomatic resolutions. it's not very good, but better than nothing, as it sets rules and moderators for these discussions.

Diplomacy is a lot easier in the always online era. Secure phone conversations were HARD and always 1:1 until very recently.

The main usage of the UN is putting things into the liberal American mindset.

Corporations and CEOs shouldn’t be part of it unless they are their own country, and good luck getting America to say Facebook is it’s own country.
