    In my experience it's really hard to get a firefighter job, so this is a gift to non-chuds who want a job that inarguably benefits society.

      Cop jobs are the same way, there are places with hundreds of applicants for single positions. If a department wanted to they could replace them in a week.

        Maybe for the suburbs and some big cities but most mid-size cities have a hard ass time finding candidates.

        Portland, OR in theory has enough payroll to pay 300 cops, they have 170.

      No kidding. Seattle Fire Department isn't even accepting new applications until Fall 2022.
