      This is the correct answer. Fabric softener makes towels less absorbent. If your towels aren't absorbent anymore, try washing them with just vinegar (no detergent) for a cycle.

      I love towels that haven't been washed with any fabric softener at all. I get dry and the slightly rough fabric scratches my back. What's not to like?

        Same. When i use softened towels, it's as if i'm not drying at all. May as well just wipe the larger droplets off with my hand and then stand around naked until the water has evaporated on its own, i seriously feel that has about the same effect as using towels washed with fabric softener.
