I went from 14k to 56k to dual ISDN 128k to 1 megabit DSL in the span of two years. My dad's company paid for the ISDN lines they were like $400 a month way back when.
The first time I experienced high speed internet was at a friend's place whose dad had one for work (I forget what kind exactly), we were up all night, and I remember the moment when for the first time in my life I ran out of shit to do or look up online.
Boy howdy, have tech companies solved that problem via endless scrolling on your feeds.
Anyone here grow up on BBSes?
Blackberry internet/messaging? Or bulletin boards?
Bulletin Boards with analog modems.
Thats cool! I'm the other one, grew up on Blackberry Messaging and Mixit.
I only played with BBSes for a year before the internet.
It was at the time revolutionary being able to play multiplayer games with people from around the world.
Some of the late MUDs had up to 100 concurrent players before MMOs existed.
Does the Yahoo selection of curated boards count?

Could your phone line actually deliver that speed though? Mine topped out at 33.6k or so.
