THIS. getting "canceled" is like 30% about what you do or say and 70% about doubling down. Michael Vick was convicted of dogfighting, ffs, but he made a sincere apology, and has redeemed himself by actively working to save dogs ever since and make amends for his behavior. And now he's not "canceled" anymore.
I also don't think Chappelle set out to hurt people. That doesn't make a single difference. The point is that he just keeps doing so and profiting millions off of doing so and responds to criticism by doing it more.
I think first and foremost, Dave should be put through the ringer cuz his trans jokes weren't funny. If they were funny and mean, at least we'd have to give up some ground.
