lol it's not even actually internet related. The emulator and games run entirely on the Switch itself. They just stuck it into an online subscription because they want more money.

The fucking cost increase is absolutely absurd. If it was like a $5 or even $10 bump, but literally doubling it and then adding another ten bucks on top of that? Come the fuck on.

I've never had an Xbox system but I've heard that's not a bad deal, don't they throw you full on fairly new free games on occasion for it and stuff?

If you have an xbox, game pass ultimate's 15 a month, covers your xbox live sub, plus gives you a few hundred games to play on your xbox, pc, and streaming onto your phone, plus access to EA's equivalent service. If you're on PC, the $10 version still has all the games on PC and EA's service as well, but obviously you don't need the xbox live subscription. Comes out to 120 or 180 a year, and really makes Nintendo's thing look comparatively pretty crappy, especially at 50 bucks a year. It's only even vaguely tolerable at 20 a year, when you factor in that most of the backup and security features don't require a sub on xbox, and that free-to-play games have free online there as well.

Lol I was curious if they would do better than the independent rom makers. Of course they wouldn't be.

I know a ton of people who would buy a switch just for a collection of N64 games built in. I mean look at the Super Nintendo adapter they sold a couple years back.

And here they are insisting on a shitty subscription service. Capitalism is always efficient.

They could sell a Micro SD card with an emulator and a bunch of ROMs and people would go nuts for it. When it comes to their back catalogue, Nintendo has consistently made terrible choices.

Literally me. I own an N64 and a collection of games and an adapter that makes it all look not terrible on HDTV. I don't like going this route and if I could access the N64 library for a reasonable price I'd probably buy a Switch. But it's a very limited library and it seems like it has plenty of issues. And of course it's the (expensive) monthly subscription thing anyway.

N64 is notoriously difficult to emulate. Something like what Analogue does for SNES would be perfect but they said it's too hard.

Btw good carts of popular N64 games can sell for well over $50-$60. Not even as collectors items, there's just that many people who want to play them.

Just get an everdrive (essentially an SD card in a cartridge shell).
