Why would they release this? It doesn't even show the nation's army's force it's just a circus for the powerful :kim: :funny-clown-hammer:

I watched a bit of it, and I'm pretty sure these are fairly normal martial arts things (at least, they're fairly similar to martial arts videos I've seen before). I don't think it's a very effective show of force, but I doubt people would find it sinister if it was the Japanese or South Korean army.

If you click the next suggested video, you can see The Telegraph interviewing a magician who says the following:

"It is impressive when you watch the video, but if the UK government wanted to produce this sort of video all they've got to do is literally go to a circus or a karate school and we could show even greater strength with children doing the same thing", the member of The Inner Magic Circle said.

I'm pretty sure these are all props made to break for what's essentially a magic show to make the army look cool. It's a little weird, but I really don't think it says much.

He's slouching a bit in a chair during a military exercise. It's poor form, sure, but I think calling this "fulfilling painful and possibly dangerous acts for the amusement of a slouched Kim Yong Un" is a bit of a stretch. You could just as well call it "Kim Jong Un bored during military martial arts demonstration".

"Kim Jong Un not hype for magic show"

It would honestly be weirder if he was super serious about it. The fact that he's giggling like a schoolgirl shows that they know this isn't a serious display and is mostly just entertainment.

Honestly, at 1:45 he looks like he's trying pretty hard not to smile lmao. I really don't see this as dystopian or anything, it's just a kind of goofy martial arts demonstration.

It's literally a show, they broadcast this to the country and the brass is just there because that's a normal thing for military shows.
