Why would they release this? It doesn't even show the nation's army's force it's just a circus for the powerful :kim: :funny-clown-hammer:
if i turn on an amerikan sports channel in about an hour i can see video of wage slaves fulfilling painful and dangerous acts for the amusement of hooting hogs
USA: wage gladiators give each other brain injury chasing ball in bizarre show of force, with military jet flyover and patriotic singing
oh i meant the nfl but yeah college ball is even more fucked
Lol there's only 2 days a week where we DON'T have that spectacle, but we switch up whether they're being paid during the other 5
uncritical support for the DPRK in its heroic struggle to liberate occupied Korea from the genocidal American empire
I watched a bit of it, and I'm pretty sure these are fairly normal martial arts things (at least, they're fairly similar to martial arts videos I've seen before). I don't think it's a very effective show of force, but I doubt people would find it sinister if it was the Japanese or South Korean army.
If you click the next suggested video, you can see The Telegraph interviewing a magician who says the following:
"It is impressive when you watch the video, but if the UK government wanted to produce this sort of video all they've got to do is literally go to a circus or a karate school and we could show even greater strength with children doing the same thing", the member of The Inner Magic Circle said.
I'm pretty sure these are all props made to break for what's essentially a magic show to make the army look cool. It's a little weird, but I really don't think it says much.
He's slouching a bit in a chair during a military exercise. It's poor form, sure, but I think calling this "fulfilling painful and possibly dangerous acts for the amusement of a slouched Kim Yong Un" is a bit of a stretch. You could just as well call it "Kim Jong Un bored during military martial arts demonstration".
"Kim Jong Un not hype for magic show"
It would honestly be weirder if he was super serious about it. The fact that he's giggling like a schoolgirl shows that they know this isn't a serious display and is mostly just entertainment.
Honestly, at 1:45 he looks like he's trying pretty hard not to smile lmao. I really don't see this as dystopian or anything, it's just a kind of goofy martial arts demonstration.
It's literally a show, they broadcast this to the country and the brass is just there because that's a normal thing for military shows.
manufacture our consent for our militaries murdering more korean people.
this video makes me concerned for the Korean people. Western propaganda machine is dumb af
Not arguing your other points
I'm giving them another chance, but this whole post is definitely sus
Martial arts are still big as spectacle and entertainment in lots of Asian countries. Think shoalin monks. None of what they’re using is real, it’s props that are meant to break for the show. European militaries have rifle and marching shows, Asian militaries have this. :shrug-outta-hecks:
ARMY VS NAVY SPORTSBALL CRONIC BRAIN INJURY AS AMERICAN DESPOT WATCHES FROM THE STANDS
I think he just finds it goofy, but the army guys love it because it's something fun to train for. Like this shit it exactly why tons of kids get hype about pro wrestling, it's all well rehearsed "feats of strength" that are pretty safe if done properly.
Also it's not just DPRK that does this, ROK has been doing it too
My local fair does stunts like this, it's nothing new or really that weird. Doing shows like this are also good for morale, people like seeing cool things and also training for doing cool stunt shows that make you look badass.
Also it’s not just DPRK that does this, ROK has been doing it too
even worse. As if it was cool when the authoritarian south already did it
It's not "cool", but it's not unique or even that odd. You're getting oddly hung up on like one of the most innocuous things. This is definitely more normal than shit like the tomb of the unknown soldier ceremony or the Buckingham palace guards.
I've seen this done in the streets of the UK before. Military dudes do a sort of WWE type thing where they perform moves on each other to show how cool and tough the military is.
I mean, I've seen high school karate clubs do some of these tricks. Don't think it's particularly dangerous.
Is this that different from any other weird martial arts stuff? Like, I broke boards in karate classes as a kid. It’s just a dumb fun demonstration that kinda looks cool and looks more impressive than it actually is. They’re made to break, and if you do it correctly it doesn’t really hurt. And that mostly looks like concrete, which isn’t known for standing up well to that kind of force. Suspend a thin slab of concrete like they do here and I bet you could do the same thing - Concrete breaks really easily.
it's just performative macho "look how tough our soldiers are" stuff.
Which...I guess you can say what you will about that kind of thing, but such a public spectacle doesn't seem that odd to me.This wacky military machocismo is really common in developing countries, just soldiers doing jackass shit to show how tough they are.
edit: more seriously, this is often seen in underdeveloped country to show how they make up their lack of advanced military equipment by showing their soldiers as tough as nails dudes.
soldiers doing jackass shit to show how tough they are
They do that in the developed countries too.
In developed countries they also sit in air conditioned rooms and vaporize families halfway around the world.
An army with nuclear capabilities has no need to make up for any lack whatsoever
Like I imagine they are performing this for TV for common people to watch to, it's just a kind of performance, albeit a dangerous looking one
