About 2AM, got called a few times by someone I haven't talked to in a few years. Close friend of a friend, and and the...er, my friend in question here is my old drummer and close buddy. The person calling me I only know in passing, but he did a better job of staying in touch with [my person] than I have. Hope that isn't too confusing, words suck.
Homie tried to pull a Leaving Las Vegas, so to say. He's alive, and in a ward for a little while. His friend is gonna scoop me up on Thursday and we're gonna drive 3 hours to go visit for a while.
So yeah, got that call at 2am, and woke up about an hour ago to messages from my ma saying that my cousins water broke 2 months early. Not sure what's gonna happen with that yet, think the cousin is getting one procedure or another to get the baby actually out.
So yeah! That's been my 2024 so far! Ayyyy lmao, cause fuck if I know what else to say.

Damn, I also just found out one of my friends is in ward as of last night. Their parent called us this morning to ask us to check them out in a few days and take care of them. 2023 was not a good year for a lot of people it seems. Sorry to hear about your friend, hopefully with some continued community care we can all pull through this shit together

Not entirely sure. They're no contact until they're out, so we don't really know the situation. I guess we'll find out when we pick them up in a few days. I've got a spare room so they may crash here for a bit until they get back on their feet. I guess whatever they need!

I have a young friend that was recently briefly institutionalized as well and he's not even in high school yet. Late capitalism really out hear fucking up even kids' mental health.
Hope they come out ok! This guy liked to drink, but i had no idea how much he had been ramping it up the past year or so. Last time we talked was about 6 months ago. Im....looking forwards to seeing him? In an odd way? Just fucking heartbreaking that it has to be under these circumstances. When we lived in the same city, we were really close, and he even drummed with me for a few years.

Am I the only one who puts my phone on airplane mode to sleep? I used to get scam calls while I was asleep, I'm a wreck if I don't sleep enough
I just have mine on do not disturb like 95% of the time. I can be sitting here at my computer with my phone in eyesight and 5ft away and I'd NEVER know you're blowing it up trying to tell me you need me to show up RIGHT NOW
