The biggest accomplishment of neoliberalism has been to completely desegregate the perception of leftism from its core ideals. People are so brainwashed that they will make a blatantly left statement and preface it with "I'm not political, but...." or "I'm definitely not a leftist, but..." and then proceed to bitch about the accumulation of wealth by the capitalist class and how it's the root of so many of our problems. It's honestly amazing. You gotta hand it to them, they did a great job.

Social democrats were like this before the first red scare even. These antiwork people will all be lining up to fight China in 2025.

i see where you're coming from, and i won't set foot on reddit to try to radicalize/reach someone, but this mindset is anathema to the changes we seek.

I'm not saying they are hopeless or unreachable, and it's not unique to tech or "Reddit" people - I'd argue the typical Leftist's friend group as more Succ Dems than the average Redditor's. It's just about understanding their ideology, deeper than the platitudes like "the 99%".

i'm sure someone has a good epithet that explains why i'm a bitch for saying this, but i can't help but feel that left politics being blatantly, obviously correct and yet remaining a fringe position is the fault of leftists

In some sense it is since we haven't had any strategies that have overcome it, but we don't control the means of education and mediation so it's a tall order.
