      That’s not exactly how laws get passed. You are describing a dictatorship.

        Reminds of a point that :baby-matt: made when China was relaxing their lockdown policies while COVID was getting worse in America. Libs were trying to argue that China's policies were so effective because it was an evil dictatorship, but all that does is make "democracy" sound pretty dogshit.

          Haha yeah, imagine making any long term political projects only to have them be immediately dismantled by the opposition party when they take power again, couldn't be me though

            I think we voted for high speed rail from LA to San Francisco in 2012. I think they've laid a hundred miles of track between Bakersfield and Merced. During that same period China dropped over 10k miles of dedicated hsr tracks.

              Florida voted in the late 90s to build high speed rail throughout the state. It was a constitutional amendment!!! Pretty much the most important type of law we have. Not a single piece of track was ever laid.
