Person X has trust issues because person Y, whom they want to date, has friends of the opposite gender?

I'd be rather freaked out if someone I wanted to date didn't have friends of both genders. Yes, it's more difficult for hetero men and women to be friends with each other if they're single. But this "you must not have any female friends" (or male friends) is disturbingly close to a Salafi-style gender-segregated society.

She isn't allowed to interact with men outside her family or her husband's? Oh, it's okay, he just has trust issues.
