There isn't a more absurd group of people than the LW/Rationalist crowd. It's funny because you see someone like James Lindsay, who started out ranting and raving about incoherence in regards to PoMo critical theory, and now he's turned that into a grift where he's become completely incoherent himself.
I do begin to wonder how much of it is a bit, and how much of it is these guys delving into the "postmodern cultural neo-marxist" stuff and practically incorporating a bunch of jargon into their own shit because it does appeal to them in some fashion, especially considering how you can easily get more conservative flavors out of the Frankfurt guys.
Twitter threads like this basically make me think that it really isn't a bit. These guys are seeing their own shadows and getting spooked, so they just run on home.
