The naming rights to that stadium lasted longer than the company's relevance. I don't think I've stepped into a Staples in over 10 years, and they've all but disappeared from my county. There was a time when they were as common as 7-11s here. Imagine seeing a modern stadium named after Kodak or Xerox in 2021. That's how anachronistic Staples is.

But they somehow found an even worse sponsor.

True though I would say that "Staples Center" had become a name that evokes the stadium quite a bit more strongly than the company. They could have renamed it after this guy and just moved on (or Kobe Bryant more likely), but unfortunately dignity doesn't exist and everything must be commodified (although $700m is a pretty solid haul to sell it for, I have to admit)

They're very much still relevant, in fact, I literally just this morning saw an invoice from them at work.

While we here in America are racing to legitimize cryptocurrency to appease day traders,

Crypto mining is an "extremely harmful" industry that jeopardizes China's pursuit of carbon neutrality, Meng Wei, spokesperson for China's National Development and Reform Commission, a macroeconomic planning agency, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
