You ppl notice how in the last couple years there’s been more and more stories like this about different American enemies - Iran, Venezuela, China, Cuba, etc. It’s like the MIC is pulling on different threads to see which fucking war people have an appetite for. I know it’s nothing new, but it feels increasingly frantic like these sickos need their fix or some shit.
So much of this just seems like its on autopilot. Like, I remember the drum beat to war in Iraq. The neocons had focus. The party worked as a unit to push a narrative. Cheney on one end was doing Very Serious Conservative talk shows while Powell was My Black Friend Who Would Never Lie To The UN. All the stories had a connecting narrative. Everyone was marching to the same beat. The objective of launching a new War in Iraq was abundantly clear from the start, and the only question at hand was how long until the public cracked. Then, every effort at withdrawal was blunted by another insurgency that ramped up like clockwork. And the news cycle just kinda dragged the war out, to periodically tug at your heart strings or implement it as a wedge issue around The Troops, or whine about the Pentagon running out of cruise missiles.
These new narratives are just all the fuck over the place. One minute, Xi is eating babies in Xinjing. The next he's at a conference talking about a climate change deal with Joe Biden. Venezuela just kinda pops up now and again as a Humanitarian Crisis that we are Very Concerned about until we aren't. There's a civil war in Ethiopia I know I'm supposed to care about, but nobody outside the old school news crews seem to want to talk about it. Cuba is going to fall any minute now. Except, oh wait, Iran's airport is getting hacked. And also Belarus is being mean to migrants to start a war with Poland. And that means Russia is bad, which should halt construction on the Nordstream 2... except nobody in Germany seems to be interested in listening. So I guess now its back to Kyle Rittenhouse stories for two weeks.
Bush and Obama at least seemed to have control of their respective narratives. Since Trump, it doesn't seem like anyone is directing this shit. People just kinda generally know the party line and are all trying to sing it off-key from one another.
idk what’s fake anymore
