    What about the power imbalance between the individuals involved? It may not be a sexual assault but the tone of the article linked comes across as being too dismissive of Peng and her anger at being used by someone powerful. I am not approaching this as anything anti China or anti CCP. But as leftists, we shouldn't trivialize Peng's posts on Weibo as "sad outcry of a woman". The translation in the article mentions her anger of being used. Let's not be insensitive. Especially if there was indeed an assault and the CCP are doing some internal investigation in which case this article looks like shit.

        I am not disagreeing with you. My only peeve is that article.

        I agree that NYT and the Western media are taking advantage over it and showing their hypocrisy but that linked article comes across as very dismissive. We can criticize NYT and the western media without dragging Peng through the mud and calling her "a paranoid woman who was angry at her affair getting over".
