Although it's incredibly dangerous, it's unlikely for the average person to ever come in contact with pure fent. Usually it's mixed in with shitty dope, and in those cases, the big danger to the end user is the chance of hitting a hot spot where the fent is more highly concentrated. It's certainly a scary drug that shouldn't be used outside of hospitals, but the sensationalism that surrounded it for a few years caused a lot of misinformation that ultimately led to greater stigma for the opioid-dependent.
