tl;dr stealing for science.
I feel like they should be paying more per thing viewed than I do as a human
They pressured the RSS guy to kill himself for scraping stuff and freely sharing, by threatening him with a stupid amount of jail time.

which guy was this?
Aaron Schwartz. Had some dubious ideas but he believed in total freedom of information. He downloaded and redistributed a shitload of content off JSTOR illegally because he felt that paywalling scientific studies was bad, was caught, and committed suicide when facing an unbelievably harsh sentence from a rabid DA.
I mean, yeah. Which is why AI should be done as publicly owned research and made freely available. It's the fucking Commons.
but... but IP law is something only the poors are supposed to have to deal with!
Also this is literally an argument in favour of pirating textbooks, since they're used for training
No, you see, that's training for yucky meatspace fleshbots which is bad. What we're training is the benevolent machine overlord.
i have a hard time caring about capitalist infighting.
copying isn't theft, this stuff is only bad because corporations are doing it for profit while the rest of us need to work for a living or die.
"Your honor, my client did not steal this work, he simply produced a superficially similar piece using an AI trained on a data set containing the work (and nothing else)"
I'm not pirating tv shows, I'm just downloading them to train my biological neural network
They’re right and the models should be open and unchained so I can make photorealistic genocide joe sucking off a popsicle wearing the Lolita glasses.
