It's always projection
Brits are anti communist, the polish voice is given a great deal of credence as such. One of the most inherently reactionary nations, true for both.
inherently reactionary nations
- there are vast reactionary sympathies there rn, so it must mean they are enemies of the proletariat!
Pretty fucking sure Poland wouldn't exist if the Soviet Union hadn't fucking liberated them. What do they think Germany was gonna do? The Poles, Polish culture and so on would all have been Germanised.
The actions the USSR took preserved the very existence of a Poland that would otherwise have been totally deleted from existence by the nazis in their pursuit of Lebensraum.
Let's not forget that if the Nazis had their way then half of the Poles that currently exist would have had their grandparents murdered, and the other half would literally be serfs with German landlords.
One thing no one can deny when I'm defending the union against nonsense slander. Especially when they try and mention Ribbentrop-Molotov the idiots.
"Oh and what's the alternative Jimbo? Oh right. A Poland fully under German control."
But they might bounce back with even stupider "The Soviets were worse!".
Semi-related, I made this when I was annoyed at something a couple days ago.

Awoo over here with a better grasp at polish history than our so called "historians".
No, you can't ask that - it's whataboutism
Which, coincidentally, was originally coined in Ireland in the 70s, referring to people who defended the IRA
Interestingly enough, Polish anticommunists claim there was absolutely no risk of Soviet intervention during the 1980-81 colour revolution.
The ones saying there was, was government and especially general Jaruzelski, later citing it as one of the main reasons of enacting the martial law.
Hilariously, it's also pretty much the only positive thing that is said about Jaruzelski - he supposedly prevented a Soviet intervention.
Tbh, I'm not sure what the tanks rolling into Warsaw would have even done. The outcome would have been exactly the same as IRL, assuming the same developments in the USSR, considering the lack of real opposition to reform and compromise with the libs in the PZPR. Or maybe those people have simply been (intentionally) forgotten by history.
I think PZPR would be purged so a lot of those that 8 years later betrayed would have to go. But this purge most likely wouldn't change much except particular names, considering that military didn't really had any idea of keeping power nor any idea what to do with it. And finally don't forget that thick line of Mazowiecki was a scam right from the beginning, they never kept any deals except personal omertas with those that knew too much.
Whatever the soviet union did to Poland they didn't do it enough evidently
Thing is, the notable thing that the USSR did against the growing opposition movement in Poland during the early 80s?
Well... nothing. Send a few concerned letters, I suppose.
Fuck it would be cool if they got in. 🙄
