It's 24/7 coverage of Trump's trial to motion the motion the motion to excuse the motion to file the motion to appeal the motion. And liberals are all like "oooh get his ass!" when in any functioning country like China Trump would have been executed by now.

My mother in law is completely addicted to MSNBC, and since she retired a few years ago she's watching that shit like 10 hours a day. She gets hyped as hell about all these motions and it's straight up the only thing she's able to talk about at all anymore. My partner and I have tried to get her active in literally anything so she doesn't just watch TV all day but nothing sticks. Like we spent a ton of money to have her antique family piano repaired (she was always talking about how she'd love to play again but just can't find a good piano tech) and I'm not sure that she's ever touched it. Now she wants to learn guitar. Recently she told us that she is getting out of the house more though! ..... because she signed up for free adult university classes. Political science of course. She's more obnoxious than she's ever been about politics.

Give her Blackshirts and Reds or Women, Race and Class. Whichever one you think might have a bigger impact.

Er no wait, probably too advanced. Lies My Teacher Told Me and People's History of the USA would probably be better.

Yeah we've recommended (purchased for her) so many books over the years but it's clear she's never going to crack one open. We have spoon fed her basic concepts that she will seemingly understand and completely agree with in the moment, but 10 minutes of MSNBC later it's like the conversation never happened because they're totally going to nail Trump this time, and we've really got to do something about all the shoplifting. We mostly just try to avoid politics with her, but it's fucking impossible because cable news is like her entire conception of the world now.

look I appreciate what you're trying to do here, but she's not going to budge on her political views lol. We'd really just like to get her away from politics entirely for the sake of her relationship with my partner (and everyone else around her), but since that doesn't look possible either we just try to not engage with it because even our dissent is taken as a green light to exclusively talk about cable news politics.

The only news I ever remember my mom watching was E! News before becoming a ride or die Trump supporter. My sister had to explain the electoral college to her and why her vote wouldn't actually matter outside of swing states when she was in her 50s.

every single show on MSNBC might as well be called the "Trump hour" because it's 80% of what they talk about

I have a dying relative who blocked all mention of Israel and Palestine on Twitter because they don't want to be depressed in their final months, but they still have MSNBC on all day and are hypervigilant about whatever it is Trump is up to.

And it's going to be so fucking funny when he gets a slap on the wrist or pardons himself when the USA goes mental over trying people for "treason" and upholding the constitution or w/e but the president can just sic his goons on Mike Pence and it goes to court instead of a firing squad lmao

It is literally dumbfounding they have been able to tell liberals "this breaking news will lead to Trump being in prison" for 8 years now and literally none of them have caught on.

I listen to it for a little while every day just to stay familiar with the broad topics.

Today it's been about how it's not a big deal biden didn't know one of his high ranking foreign policy advisors (like cabinet secretary level) was in the hospital unresponsive getting treated for pancreatic cancer for two full days.

Which I mean I agree with but their argument wasn't exactly "the president is just a geriatric corpse used to lend legitimacy to the legislation oligarchs crank out so who cares if he knows what day it is"

My dad still watching trump like he's gonna do something subtle. Like dude, Biden is in office fucking people up. Trump isn't the president anymore and giving him attention isn't going to make him go away. It's been eight years now, Jesus Christ

When 2016 first happened my parents were glued to CNN uninterrupted while I was at college. When I came back my hard-working father had a budding respect for that fool Michael Smerconish and tried sending some tweets at Chris Cuomo in Italian. Those two fail sons never deserved my father's consideration considering they've done nothing but fail upward while he's had to grind himself down just to stay where he's at. They're just mouthpieces for the powerful, after all.

the thing i find the most amusing is that right after Trump won, the #StillWithHer crowd were talking about how the media gave Trump so much free coverage and that's why #She lost. and here we are 4 years later with the media.... still giving Trump a bunch of free coverage, and they are absolutely ravenous for more.

It is a very small consolation to me that my extremely lib pilled parents are actually burning out on all the msnbc trump coverage. They still watch some of it. They're still lib pilled. But their brains haven't been completely melted. They still think biden is "at his heart a good man" while having the smallest fledgling criticisms of some of his administration. When the Gaza siege started popping off my dad, unprompted, said "Bibi needs to go" and "two state solution" so I'll take it.
