Due to post about feds nocking on their door and asking about Hexbear, which was posted outside of fake news and could be seen as serious.

  • the whole "hahaha aren't you triggered by me" thing is lame, i never thought it was funny but also wasn't upset by it...

except i have to be honest, they did get me with the switch post, it did genuinely annoy me to see the most prolific prankster on hexbear post something so blatently fake and see a bunch of people responding as if it was serious. so i guess it was good work exposing how strangely credulous some of hexbear is.

the sad thing is that was probably the only melina post that could have been funny, the writing and the idea was actually good. only i had soured on the bit already.

rip to a real one, maybe you can be funny with your next account if you simply enjoy your trolls without also doing the "lol triggered much" thing.

I dunno I think the Nintendo post, and really most of Melina's posts, exhibited how hexbears ND usersegment is perceived and treated by a large part of the userbase.
Many ND people have trouble parsing irony and sarcasm. They can also probably relate to struggling socially, doing something silly like buying a switch because of a misunderstanding and then getting irrationally angry about it. The people responding genuinely to that post mainly seemed to be people who sympathised with the experience and who offered coping methods and strategies for future use.
The amount of people that mocked users for engaging genuinely and kindly with someone, was honestly very disappointing to me, though not surprising.

There has always been a strain in HexBear that has pushed for more sincere posting and to not be terminally online posters.

we lost that fight to the federation return to reddit-logo bloc but yes, a part of this site's culture that i think really started to come together in the god forsaken discord pre chapo dot chat was the genuine comradely care and concern for others in a very small pool. we've certainly made the pool much bigger but something has been lost in our zeal for dunking and participating in the marketplace of ideas and while we've always had shitfits the vibes are just so much more hostile because of it.
