Are these even "NFTs" in the strict sense? Or are they just rebranding online collectibles as NFTs to push their product?

Like, I have a hard time they're going to mine a bunch of Etherium to the tune of around $150/ea and then hand them out for free. This either needs to be built on a different cryptographic backbone or just pure marketing gibberish.

I think major gaming companies no longer cause about what's sustainable and good for the gaming industry long term, so it's not surprising they would do this. I agree with you though, this is going to cause issues

Tuesday’s announcement said Ubisoft’s Digits will stored on the Tezos blockchain, which is a “proof of stake” blockchain, as opposed to the more energy-intensive “proof of work” blockchains of Ethereum or Bitcoin. “A single transaction on Tezos uses roughly the same amount of energy as streaming 30 seconds of video,” Ubisoft asserted.

    Garbage. Absolute monkey-shit garbage.

But if I watch a 30 second video it might make me laugh. NFT does nothing 😢 mek me sad.
